We have a small room off the great room that has evolved over the course of our build. Originally, we called it the music room because that’s where we planned to put the grand piano my mom is passing down to me. As the sheetrock went up though, I realized the space was a little small for that. We decided to give the grand piano its own corner of the great room. It will be a dramatic accent piece, and its sound will be able to fill the two story open space. Win win.
So we went back to the drawing board and decided to make a library space. The room has two sets of double windows and a ceiling that slopes up to fourteen feet giving it a bright, open feel. Tim drew the plans, and we got to work.

I was thrilled to unpack books and photo albums to put on the shelves. So much so, he actually let me start before the trim was finished.

Eventually we will build bookshelves that surround the doorway on the wall opposite of these, but that is way down the to-do list. Or as we sometimes say in our family, that’s a horse for later.
