Are we there yet? Part 3

At the end of August 2024, we started building out the Butler’s Pantry. It has its own post. You can read all about it here!

By the end of September, we had moved enough furniture and supplies in to start spending the night. Big shout out to our son who helped carry every piece of furniture moved into this place, used his heavy equipment skills to work on our driveway, and helped Tim move in a cast iron bathtub that weighed well over 300 pounds! If we ever need help, he happily jumps right in.

Waking up in the Barndo was exciting and surreal, but the majority of our clothes were still at my mom’s house. There was still a lot of driving back and forth going on, so we got busy building out the master closet.

We ended up building four custom sections with shoe racks and shelves for storage.

In October, Tim built a rustic mantle from a pecan slab for our fireplace.

Over the holidays, he finished out a closet for Christmas decor storage and designed a recessed bookshelf for the loft. Have I mentioned he never sits still?

After ringing in the new year, it was time to finish the study. It has its own post. You can read about it here!

On the heels of that project, he started finishing the screened porch. Read all about it here!

We had a tiny toy poodle for fifteen years. At less than five pounds, Josie was snarky and fiercely loyal. Strangers feared her with good reason. But if we ever picked her up and started walking downstairs, she would turn her head into our shoulders so she didn’t have to see our descent. That’s the way we feel about our to-do list. There are more major projects looming, but if we turn our heads and look the other way at all we’ve accomplished, we feel okay about it.

To be continued …

Welcome to our little work-in-progress in the country. As we work to put the finishing touches on our barndominium, we’ll be talking about family, food, faith, and our efforts to live a slower, more intentional life.
