About the Barndo

In 2021, we bought nine acres of land in a beautiful rural area. It was completely wooded and very steep, but Tim had a vision of what it could be. Today, I sit in a barndominium of his design built on the crest of that land.

From the very beginning, we knew we wanted this to be a place of peace and rest. A place where our adult children could relax, enjoy a meal they didn’t have to prepare, and step away from some of the stress of daily life. We pictured a place where we would serve our friends by cooking good food and building deeper relationships.

“Maple Ridge” was built with all of this in mind. The kitchen is open with space for everyone to gather around a huge island where they can help cook or pull up a bar stool and chat. Behind the dining table is a garage door that opens into the screened porch where there is another table that seats twelve. In addition to the owner’s suite, there are two complete suites downstairs and another bed and bath upstairs in the loft. One of the downstairs suites was designed with extra room for building in bunks just in case there happen to be any grandchildren in our future. We have dedicated our lives and this place to the Lord with awe and gratefulness for all He has done and will continue to do in the life of our family.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3: 22-23

Welcome to our little work-in-progress in the country. As we work to put the finishing touches on our barndominium, we’ll be talking about family, food, faith, and our efforts to live a slower, more intentional life.
